Why I Built the Fifth Element Framework—and Why We’re Reading Together

When I started Fifth Element Coaching, I knew I didn’t want to replicate the same models of professionalism and productivity that had burned me out and left me disconnected. I wanted something rooted in justice, resilience, and care. The Fifth Element Framework is my answer to that need—a system I created to help people navigate survival, agency, and collective liberation without losing themselves in the process.

I didn’t invent these ideas out of thin air. I built the framework by weaving together wisdom from Indigenous teachers, justice‑centered organizers, trauma‑informed practitioners, and resilience thinkers. Books like Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown have been companions on this journey. They challenged me, grounded me, and ultimately shaped the philosophy that now guides my coaching practice.

Because this framework is personal, I want the way we explore it to be personal too. That’s why I created the Fifth Element Book Club. Each month, we’ll gather around one of the texts that influenced me, not to dissect it academically, but to ask: How does this help us live differently? How does this deepen our resilience? How does this connect to our own stories?

You don’t need to have read the book cover to cover to join. You just need curiosity and a willingness to be in conversation. I’ll share why each text mattered to me, how it shaped the Fifth Element Framework, and how we can practice its lessons together.

The Fifth Element Book Club is free, open, and rooted in justice. You’ll find reminders and schedules on our events calendar. Together, we’ll explore the texts that shaped the Fifth Element Framework and practice what it means to live resilience and liberation in community.
