Land Acknowledgement

Honoring the ancestral stewards of the land and the truth that lives beneath our work.

We live on stolen land.

Fifth Element acknowledges that the land on which we live and work in Belfast, Maine is part of the ancestral territory of the Wabanaki Confederacy, which includes the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet, and Mi’kmaq peoples. These Indigenous nations have stewarded this land for thousands of years and continue to do so today.

We recognize the enduring presence, wisdom, and sovereignty of the Wabanaki peoples—and the historical and ongoing impact of colonization, displacement, and erasure. This acknowledgement is not a gesture of closure, but a commitment to truth, relationship, and responsibility.

As a practice rooted in clarity and transformation, Fifth Element honors the unseen forces that shape our lives—including the land beneath us, the histories we inherit, and the communities we impact. We invite our clients, collaborators, and partners to engage with this truth as part of their own recalibration.
